What's the issue here?  (Why do you want /etc/mtab at a nonstandard location, 
and can't symlink it?  I'd like to point out that /etc/mtab _is_ listed in 
the FHS 2.3.  It's "optional", but if you have it they say where it should 
be.)

I care because my mount rewrite touches this bit.  I've been a bit distracted 
from getting it in, but I'm trying to catch up.  (And yes, pushing for a 
1.0.1 release seems to have shaken loose all sorts of pending patches.  Sigh.  
Just a quick release of what's already in the tree.  Yeah, right...)
